Cake Care

Your cake investment needs to be protected from pick-up to consumption. Here are the guidelines we recommend following!

Storage

Please transfer your cakes into the fridge as soon as possible, and keep them away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Acrylic and other custom toppers can be removed before placing in fridge.

Enjoy & Serve

All cakes taste at their best if eaten at room temperature on the day of purchase.

For maximum flavour and a soft, moist texture we recommend removing whole cakes from the fridge about 45 to 60 minutes before consumption, and cupcakes 20 to 30 minutes in advance (subject to room temperature). If your cake still appears hard, this means that it hasn’t reached normal room temperature, so just leave it out for a little longer.

Cutting & Serving

Remove any and all, decorations, cake dowels and flowers before slicing your cake.

Set decorations off to the side as some decor can be saved and kept.

Layer cakes are best sliced with a large plain edged kitchen knife.
Cold buttercream or ganache can stick to a knife and make the cake crumble when slicing. For clean, neat, and smooth slices have a jug with hot water and a kitchen cloth at hand to dip and wipe the knife blade regularly between slices.

Refer to our disassembly and cutting guide for maximum servings

REFUNDS DUE TO NEGLIGENCE WILL NOT BE ISSUED OR CONSIDERED.

Cake Handling + Transportation Guidelines

Grab cake from the bottom of the box and use extremely care when moving from car to home to venue. Gently pull cake from box (giggle slightly from the non slip mat) ASK FOR HELP if needed (have them grab the box when you’re ready to pull the cake out). Use extreme care and note some cakes are EXTREMELY heavy.

Cakes need to be transported on a FLAT surface! This means the floor of your car (floor space on passenger side or trunk area if you feel comfortable having it out of your sight). If you don’t have floor space, plan on packing a large towel or blanket to push into the L-shaped crease of a car seat to create a level & secure surface for the cake to sit upon. The cake should be sitting completely flat! Secure the cake as best you can for safe travel!

Do NOT travel with your cake placed on an angled car seat OR on the lap of a passenger.

The best way to transport your cake is in the back of a van, station wagon or SUV. If none of these options are available, it is possible to transport smaller sized cakes in the floorboard of a car, however this is a last resort due to the potential for damage.

Drive safely and SLOWLY. This is especially important if you’re transporting a tiered cake. *Use flashers people will go around*

All of my tiered cakes are built with an internal support system consisting of strong wooden dowels and plastic support dowels to help ensure structural stability.

Driver must take extreme caution, keeping the vehicle level at all times, especially when turning corners, and must avoid any sudden acceleration, cornering or aggressive braking.

Upon arrival at the event venue, be sure to set up the cake in a cool display area away from sunlight (and away from anywhere sunlight might move to) without delay.

If you are concerned about transporting your cake, please contact me at least 24 hours prior to pick-up and I will assist you with any questions/concerns you may have as you prepare to transport your cake.

Pick Up Guidelines for Warm Weather

AIR CONDITIONING MUST BE ON PRIOR TO ARRIVAL! Keep on the entire drive to destination.

In warm seasons, it’s extremely important that you keep your car very cool before, during and after pickup.

Keep cake away from direct sunlight at the venue.

Pick Up Guidelines for Cold Weather

NO HEATERS WHATSOEVER! Keep away from direct sunlight at the venue.
